EMBEDDED BASED AUTOMATIC GAS BOOKING SYSTEM USING GSM

ABSTRACT
One of the biggest areas of concern for LPG customers is registering their requests for refill cylinders with the distributors. While analyzing the data on the complaints being received by the oil marketing companies (OMCS), it has been observed that a major chunk of them pertain to refill booking and non-receipt of acknowledgement for bookings made.
To effectively address this issue, it was required to have a system of registering the booking for new refills and providing a registration number as acknowledgement without any manual intervention. Traditionally, customers were required to register their requests for sourcing lpg cylinder refills either through telephone or a personal visit to the distributor's premises.
As the technology progressed, the SMS system of refill booking emerged as an ideal option. The system is provided and maintained by cellular ltd. SMS (short message service): this too is a 24 x 7 facility where customers can send an SMS from their mobile phone to register for the service and subsequently book for refills. If the customer is using SMS facility for the first time, then SMS IOC <std code + distributor’s tel. Number > <consumer number> to the unique idea number for your city.  For example, in case the distributor's telephone number in delhi is 26024289 and consumer number is qx00827c, SMS shall be sent as follows: IOC 01126024289 qx00287c. For subsequent bookings, send SMS IOC to the same number.
With a view to provide better services to the customers and to reduce the scope for irregularities, we have introduced the facility  refill booking through short messaging service (SMS) and also if an gas leakage is detected automatically main supply will off in order to avoid fire accident.

  INTRODUCTION
Embedded systems are controllers with on chip control which consist of microcontrollers, input and output devices, memories etc. and it can be used for a specific application. A small computer designed in a single chip is called single chip microcomputer. A single chip microcomputer typically includes a microprocessor, RAM, ROM, timer, interrupt and peripheral controller in a single chip. This single chip microcomputer is also called as a microcontroller.
The microcontrollers are used for variety of applications where it replaced the computer. The usage of this microcomputer for specific applications, in which the microcontroller a part of application is called, embedded systems.
Computing systems are everywhere. It’s probably no surprise that millions of computing systems are built every year destined for desktop computers (Personal Computers, or PC’s), workstations, mainframes and servers. Thus an embedded system is nearly any computing system other than a desktop, laptop, or mainframe computer.
